Sarah Dawn: Hanging by a ... What?

Saturday August 11, 3:15 - 4:45pm   $40

Don’t think that the only way to hold on to the rope is with your hands! This class will explore other ways to grip the rope, as well as wraps, poses, and drops that utilize properties of ro0pe to create hands free stability in the air. No prior rope experience necessary but participants should feel comfortable attempting the attempting toe climbs and holds, as we will touch on some mallakhamb technique. Must also be able to invert multiple times in the air.

Sarah discovered the wonderful world of circus 12 years ago, when a good friend made her her first hula-hoop.  That started a lovely journey down the rabbit hole of flow arts, fire dancing, circus, and aerials. In the air, Sarah's work can be quite captivating...she presents her art with grace, passion, strength, and a truly emotive presence.  However, though she’s had experience performing at festivals around the county and on stage with well-known musicians, Sarah’s main passion lies in teaching.  Her favorite moments are when students light up learning a new move, master an elusive skill, or talk about how their life is healthier and happier because of aerial arts.

Sarah Dawn: Free Fallin'

This class is a great introduction for those participants wanting to start their journey into open drops. We’ll learn about the physical prerequisites necessary to safely execute these drops, conditioning exercises to help train them, and movement theory involved in their proper execution. Though no prior rope experience is required, attendees should have a solid grasp of vocabulary on vertical apparatus, including single and double star and be comfortable inverting multiple times and being in the air for several minutes.
