Aerial Engineering: Fabric Theory

Saturday March 30, 2019 3:15 - 4:45pm $40

This workshop is for intermediate/advanced silks students. In this workshop, we'll be going over wraps that are familiar to all of us and figuring out new ways of connecting and creating them. Show up ready to use your inverting and problem solving muscles! The purpose of this workshop is to see what new things we can create and get students approaching the silks from a different perspective. If you're comfortable inverting in the air, have a clean hip key, and don't mind hanging out up there for a while, you're ready for this workshop! Contact Sara D. with any questions!

Hammock Flow: Movement Quality

Saturday March 30, 2019 5 - 6:30pm $40

This workshop is for students with some experience on hammock who are ready to take their relationship with it to the next level. By introducing the concept of movement quality to your practice, elevate your performance and bring out the authentic artist inside of you. We'll break down techniques and transitions and find what opportunities are possibly being missed in between. There is a choreographic piece which will be taught in this class but students with their own works-in-progress are encouraged to develop those as well. Contact Sara D. with any questions!

The hammock supports us throughout our practice by helping us find our center, challenging our balance, providing space in a previously unavailable pose, or facilitating a deeper stretch. We can enjoy the many benefits of inversions without putting pressure on the head, neck, or back. And most importantly-it's fun! Absolutely no experience (with yoga nor aerial) necessary. Come float with us!

Rebecca Pickens is an instructor at the Detroit flyhouse and high school math teacher. After experiencing aerial yoga a few years ago, she fell in love, and knew she wanted to share the playful and restorative form of yoga with others.
